Drones have existed for a long time, but only recently have they become reliable and cheap enough for recreational use. Now you can buy drones for under $100 that not only fly, but are stable, reliable, and easy to use. This is because the cost of parts has gone down and competition has heated up leading to lower costs, more features, and many different drones to choose from. This is all great for the consumer but it can make it hard to choose which drone is the best for you. That’s always a problem you want to have and I have come up with a solution to that problem. Below is my top 3 best drones under $100 which you can use as a resource to find the best drone for yourself or a friends.

One thing you should watch out for when buying a drone is how expensive replacement parts and batteries are. When I bought my first drone, I didn’t take that into consideration, and when my drone broke and I looked for replacement parts, I found out how expensive they are. I also looked for extra batteries because I wanted to fly for longer periods of time and found out that the batteries cost upwards of $40. Don’t make the same mistake I did. All the best drones under $100 I recommend have cheap replacement parts so if you buy one I recommend, you have nothing to worry about.

1. SYMA X5C Explorer

Syma X5CThe SYMA X5c Explorer is the first on my best drones under $100 list because its one of the most popular drones for sale right now and for good reason. Its well built, has very stable flight, easy controls and it has a very reasonable price tag. It also has a camera but it is barely HD. It is fun recording video, but don’t expect the quality to be anything more than a cheap webcam. Where the SYMA X5C shines is what you get for your money. There aren’t many other drones which have as many features and are as cheap as the SYMA is.

  • HD Camera- 1280 x 720 pixel
  • 6 axis Gyro for stable flying
  • Does a flip at the push of a button
  • 6-10 minute flight time
  • Cheap replacement parts
  • Intelligent orientation Control – makes flying easier

The SYMA is one of the best drones under $100 right now, and if you have any interest in buying a drone you should check it out.

2. Holy Stone HS170 Predator

HolyStoneHS170Predator1The Holy Stone is a quick and responsive drone which is built well and can survive many crashes, perfect for a beginner. This is is an extremely good drone under $100 and in some respects better than the SYMA. It has three control sensitivities: Beginner, intermediate and advanced which makes learning how to control it a lot easier. Unlike many other drones, the Holy Stone does not have a camera which can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want. Obviously if you want a drone with a camera, this is not the drone you should get. But if you don’t mind, drones without cameras are generally cheaper while having the same or better performance. Another thing which makes this drone extremely easy to control is the headless mode. Headless mode makes it so when you tell it to go left it goes left from your perceptive and not having to do with what way the drone is facing.

  • Easy to Control – Headless mode, 3 Sensitivity modes, 6 axis Gyro
  • 360 flip
  • Cheap replacement parts
  • Quality build – Survives crashes

This is one of the best drones under $100. Its a great choice for someone who doesn’t mind not having a camera. Since it doesn’t have a camera, its cheaper than other drones while still having the same performance.

3. UDI U818A

UDI 818AThe UDI U818A is much bigger than the rest of the drones I have reviewed so far, and its the most expensive. Having a large drone can be more fun because it looks and  feels more powerful, which it is because it needs to lift its bigger body. But keep in mind that having a bigger drone means its harder to transport. With drones, its important to be able to repair your drone. The UDI has a modular design and cheap replacement parts making it easy and cheap to fix your drone if you ever crash it too hard. But you shouldn’t have to do that too much because the drone is well made and has blade guards to protect from most crashes. It does come with a camera but  like most drones at this price point, the picture quality is okay.

  • 360 flips
  • modular design- cheap parts and batteries
  • Comfortable controller
  • 7-9 minute flight time
  • Two flying modes for more personalized flying experience

The UDI is a pricier but excellent choice for those who want a larger drone. It’s super fun, stable, easy to control and cheap to repair. What else could you ask for?

So there you go, those are the best drones under $100 in my opinion, they are all great and you’d be happy with any one of them. If none of them caught your eye, click here to find a larger list of drones under $100.
