Although drones may seem more geared towards older people, there are actually some really great and inexpensive drones made especially for kids. They are usually smaller, are easier to control and something we always like to hear, they are inexpensive. These drones usually have lots of padding, so even if your kid crashes it a lot, the drone should continue working fine. Of course, there is always the possibility of it breaking, you should actually plan on it because it probably will, but with their low price points, its not the end of the world if you need to buy a new one.
I personally love drones, and I think small drones have the highest ratio of the amount of fun you can have to the price of the product. A small little drone that costs $20 can produce hours and hours of fun and everyone wants to try it. If this is something you are looking for, check out my list of the best drones for kids below.
Best Overall Drone for Kids: Syma X5C Explorers
The first on my list is the SYMA X5C Explores. This is a very solid drone for $50, and comes with everything you want in a drone for kids. Its a good size, not too big but also not too small. It comes with blade guards to help protect the blades if you crash into an object and overall its built very well. it also comes with a camera so you can record video and take pictures in the air, but don’t expect the quality to be spectacular.
Overall, if I were going to buy a drone for a kid, I would buy this one. Heck, even if I was buying an adult a drone, it would probably be this one. Its relativity inexpensive for a drone, its reliable and its a blast to use. What else can you ask for?
Best Cheap Drone for Kids: Cheerson CX-10 Mini
If you are looking for something a little cheaper than the Syma, then I recommend checking out the Cheerson CX-10 Mini. This guy is incredibly tiny measuring in at 4.2 cm. It can easily fit in your hand and buzzes about like a little bee. It can only fly for 4-8 minutes but it also recharges fairly quickly. My favorite feature of this drone is its price. At the time of writing this review, the Cheerson CX-10 Mini costs only $16.36. A drawback to this drone is that it doesn’t come with any blade guards, so the chance of your propellers breaking is higher. There is a solution: You can buy aftermarket blade guards on amazon for a couple bucks.
The Cheerson CX-10 Mini is another excellent drone which is extremely fun to fly, especially because of its size. Its a completely different flying experience compared to bigger drones. So if you want to buy this as a gift, or yourself, kid or not, you will have a lot of fun.
Ultimate Drone for Kids: UDI U818A
So far I’ve showed you a medium priced drone, and a cheaper option but if you have a little more money to spend, don’t worry, I have something for you too. The UDI U818A is the ultimate drone for kids. The best aspect to this drone in my opinion is the modular design. This means that if anything breaks, you can easily fix it without spending a bunch of money on a completely new drone. it also includes a blade guard to protect your drone from those inevitable crashes. It also has a camera but like the Syma, don’t expect anything great.
Those are my three best drones for kids. When buying a drone for a kid, make sure it has blade protection and is not too expensive, don’t buy an expensive drone to find out later you don’t like drones that much or break it because you are not experienced with flying drones. Thats all I can think of so thanks for reading and good luck with your drone if you buy one.
